Philosophy
Eating and drinking is instinct and it’s no secret that the food we eat should be nutritious – quite simply we need it to survive. I am a firm believer in living a life with balance, enjoying food and the social aspect that comes with it. As a society, we get so much pleasure from food, it’s ingrained into many of our cultures – it’s there to be experienced and explored. But food is also there to give us what we need to function at our best.
The human body is an amazing ‘machine’, made up of intertwining body systems such as the immune system and the digestive system. These systems need the vitamins and minerals supplied to us by nutritious food to work at their optimum and in harmony with each other. When something is imbalanced, whether this is through tiredness, nausea, allergies, stress or poor sleep – this is our bodies way of telling us something may not be quite right and that we should address it.
There is no one size fits all to nutritional programmes. We are unique and so is the way we react to food – physically and mentally. My approach is holistic, focusing not just on one aspect or isolated symptom of a client, I consider the individual as a whole and deliver a programme using an evidence based scientific approach. This approach evaluates all aspects of lifestyle, personal, medical and family history, emotional stressors, body systems and pathology to determine the root cause of your symptom(s).
What do I mean by scientific approach? I take the information garnered from a consultation and look at the latest scientific research and evidence regarding nutritional medicine and consider this when tailoring a programme.
